Geneva: A Hub of Diplomacy and Global Cooperation
Geneva, nestled as the second largest city in Switzerland —a nation renowned for its neutrality—hosts the second-largest United Nations offices, solidifying its important role in international diplomacy. Switzerland’s commitment to impartiality has made Geneva an ideal setting for global discussions, humanitarian action, and conflict resolution. Key United Nations agencies, including the World Health Organization (WHO), UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), International Labour Organization (ILO), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and International Organization for Migration (IOM), operate here, addressing critical issues like health, human rights, and refugees. The city’s diplomatic legacy and international character foster collaboration among nations, reinforcing its reputation as a global peace capital and a beacon for multilateral cooperation.
As the host of the United Nations and numerous diplomatic missions, Geneva serves as a vital hub for international dialogue, where countries from Asia also play a significant role in shaping the dynamics of global diplomacy. It is within this context that AAWAG was founded—born out of the need for a sense of friendship and solidarity to be fostered among Asian nations. Recognizing the importance of mutual understanding, collaboration, and cultural connection, AAWAG aims to strengthen bonds and promote unity among Asian communities within Geneva’s diplomatic landscape.
“It is with great excitement that we introduce the official website of the Ambassadors’ Wives Association Geneva (AAWAG)! This platform marks a significant milestone in our journey, allowing us to extend our reach, strengthen our community, and share the beauty of Asian cultures with a broader audience.
Through this website, we aim to provide easy access to information about our events, initiatives, and charitable efforts. It will serve as a hub where members and supporters can stay informed, engage with our activities, and witness the meaningful impact of our work.
AAWAG was founded with the mission of fostering friendship, cooperation, and cultural exchange among the wives of Asian Ambassadors, female Ambassadors and Asian wives of heads of International Organization in Geneva. Over the years, our efforts have grown, and with the launch of this website, we take another step forward in connecting with those who share our passion for cultural appreciation and humanitarian service.
We invite you to explore the website, learn more about our projects, and join us in celebrating the richness of Asian traditions. Your support has been invaluable in making AAWAG what it is today, and we look forward to continuing this journey with you.”
