AAWAG Monthly Meeting Summary
Wednesday, 15th October 2025
The AAWAG monthly meeting was held at the Indonesian Residence, graciously hosted by Madame Almalia, spouse of H.E. Achsanul Habib.
The meeting began with a warm welcome from the host, followed by a presentation by Ms. Shanon from the World Food Programme (WFP). She provided an overview of WFP’s mission, operations, and the regions where the organization is currently active.
On behalf of AAWAG President Ms. Maria Sorreta, Ms. Uzma updated members about those who are leaving Geneva. Small gifts were presented to them as tokens of appreciation from the Association.
She also announced that the President position for 2026 is now open.
The Election Committee, comprising Ms. Ananya, Ms. Reem, and Ms. Rasha, will conduct the physical elections during the November monthly meeting, which will be hosted by Madame Maryam from Jordan. Members who are unable to attend in person may cast their votes via email or any other online voting method that may be introduced; the Executive Committee will provide further updates on this process.
The donation for Myanmar remains in process due to technical issues, and the remaining donation amount will be directed to Gaza through the World Food Programme.
The accessories donated by the Mission of China are still available for purchase, possibly at half price. The funds collected from these sales will be added to the ongoing donation fund.
To conclude the meeting, Madame Almalia Habib gave a beautiful and educational presentation on the art of Batik, ending with a fun game played by all members. Participants then created their own Batik pieces, which they took home. The event was perfectly capped with a delicious Indonesian feast, enjoyed by all attendees.
